Portrait Style Options

Gallery Wrapped Canvas

The most popular portrait is a gallery wrapped canvas print. With this style, the canvas is stretched over custom-made wood stretcher bars. It’s a classic look that makes a bold statement. A gallery-wrapped canvas goes well with virtually any decor. With this style, the art appears to float on your wall and a frame is unnecessary because the structure is inside and behind the art. Because my style is reminiscent of oil painting, you will get a classic look for a fraction of the price of a traditional oil painting.

There are two depths of canvas wraps.

Traditional Canvas Wrap

Traditional .75" wrap

For portraits sized 8x10 and 11x14, I use a traditional .75” depth. This allows the print to fit neatly into most traditional frames. At those smaller sizes, a frame is a reasonably priced option, and it can give the smaller prints an added visual boost.

Thick Canvas Wrap

Thick 1.5" wrap

Please note: I don’t sell frames with my standard prints, but they are easily obtained at most any art/hobby store.

I use deeper 1.5” stretcher bars for canvases 16x16 and larger. These add weight and importance to the artwork and create a wonderful impression on any wall.

Solid Wrap. On the sides of the canvas, you have options as well. These can be colored for added elegance. The default option is black edges, but you can choose white, or have me pick a color that complements the portrait. If you have a specific color in mind, please mention it in the “Additional Information” portion of the form and I’ll gladly make the color edges conform to your preference.

Thick Canvas Wrap

Thick 1.5" image wrap

Image Wrap. For an extra $15, you can have me wrap the image around the edges of the canvas. This is an extremely popular effect. When you select this option, I will enlarge the canvas margin around the pet slightly to accommodate the extra wrap dimensions. When I paint the portrait, your pet will still be front and center, but I will naturally create the extra portions that wrap around the sides. This adds a little time on my part (hence the added cost), but it’s a look well worth the minimal price.

Paper Print

For do-it-yourselfers, I offer paper prints for the smaller sizes. These are printed in-house using archival inks on acid-free glossy paper. They are delivered flat and are ready for matting and framing.
